graduated with honors in 1999. Scott's wife, Susannah, has lived in Orlando for more than 20 years, and the couple recently moved downtown after getting married last year.

Following law school, Scott worked for both the federal government and in private practice in Atlanta before becoming a staff attorney for the Legal Environmental Assistance Foundation (LEAF) in Tallahassee. Scott is now the Florida Policy Director and staff attorney for Clean Water Action, a national organization that has worked to defend the Clean Water Act and other public health issues for the last 30 years.

He has successfully battled to protect workers from losing their retirement funds because of corporate misdeeds. Scott and two of his colleagues helped workers in Knoxville, Tennessee fully recover their retirement savings after a corporate president squandered the savings of hundreds of workers on a stock tip received from a golf partner. Scott ensured that the workers received 100% of what they lost.

Scott also has fought to protect Florida's environment. Florida's pristine beaches, beautiful springs and wetlands, and diverse wildlife are not only essential to our quality of life, but are also the driving force behind Florida's economy. While at LEAF, Scott successfully fought to require the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to issue clean water permits to concentrated animal feeding operations, the first victory under that state statute in more than 20 years.

Scott argued that this issue was not only central to protecting Florida's waterways, but that it was also a fairness issue for small, family farmers who cared about the environment. Only with a system where everyone was treated the same could good businesses compete and thrive. Scott also defeated attempts by the legislature to overturn the court decision, and DEP has now issued permits to nearly all the large dairies so that waterways will be cleaned up throughout Florida.

Scott has also worked with legislators for nearly four years. Scott has focused on policy, not political party to insure the strongest protections for public health and the environment. Last year Scott also worked with state and local governments, industries and agriculture to increase funding for water quality programs from $5 million per year to more than $500 million over the next ten years. Scott has had success working with all interests to pass good legislation and to defeat attempts by special interests to derail the public interest. He has come to be respected as someone who is an effective advocate for Florida's future.

Scott Randolph is the only candidate in this race with true Democratic principles and values. Scott believes that Floridians want effective leadership that reflects the principle that government is there to serve the people, not the politicians and the special interests. With Scott's legal background and years of advocating on environmental and public health issues, Scott knows what it takes to protect workers, families and the environment.
