Scott and his wife plan on having children in the next few years, and like most Floridians, they will put our children into the public school system. Scott will fight hard to improve the quality of our schools and give every child the opportunity to succeed. Scott also believes that each child has unique needs, so standardized tests should not be the only measure of each child's potential.
While some have continued to dismantle public education by limiting funding, keeping teacher pay low and focusing on how to use vouchers to fund religious schools with taxpayer money, Scott will fight to increase funding to ALL schools in Central Florida. Scott also will fight to ensure that our teachers are motivated and well-paid.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jeb Bush has cut taxes on the wealthy by more than $14 billion since 1998, and in 2006 there is an estimated extra $3.2 billion in the state budget. Yet, Bush and Scott's opponent want to continue to force us to educate our children on a shoestring budget. They refuse to give our children the education that we work so hard to give them. Bush also refuses to implement the class-size amendment which was passed by a majority of Floridians in 2002. Instead, he and Scott's opponent want to create a policy whereby many schools can remain overcrowded and under funded, while a select affluent few have small class sizes and more teachers.

Scott will support what Floridians have overwhelmingly demanded: smaller class sizes that enable a better education. Scott believes our children's futures depend on the investment we make in our children today.
